What Is Stress

Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Stress is a normal part of life. You can experience stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts. - Cleveland Clinic

This is the traditional definition of stress. However, holistic stress also includes the soul and the metaphysical aspect of yourself.

Do not forget that your body, mind, and soul are only three of the 7 subtle bodies. And usually, stress firstly concerns the higher body than your physical, mental and emotional ones.

Just think of energetic attacks because of being in a toxic environment. You might not be attacked directly but the general negativity there affects your subtle bodies.

1. The Symptoms of Holistic Stress

Firstly, I must point out that the symptoms of holistic stress have to be considered jointly, which means on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Why?

Because stiff spine or shoulders are the effects of tension because of helplessness, and overload of a given challenge. Your soul may also manifest his/her warning signals that you are not going in the right direction.

Physical Symptoms

  • Dizziness or a general feeling of "being out of it."

  • General aches and pains.

  • Grinding teeth, clenched jaw.

  • Headaches.

  • Indigestion or acid reflux symptoms.

  • Increase in or loss of appetite.

  • Muscle tension in the neck, face, or shoulders.

  • Problems sleeping.

  • Racing heart.

  • Cold and sweaty palms.

  • Tiredness, exhaustion.

  • Trembling/shaking.

  • Weight gain or loss.

  • Upset stomach, diarrhoea.

  • Sexual difficulties.

Emotional Symptoms

  • Depression or anxiety.

  • Anger, irritability, or restlessness.

  • Feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unfocused.

  • Moodiness, irritability, or anger.

  • Racing thoughts or constant worry.

  • Feeling overwhelmed.

Mental Symptoms

  • Depression or general unhappiness.

  • Anxiety and agitation.

  • Moodiness, irritability, or anger.

  • Making bad decisions.

  • Problems with your memory or concentration.

  • Loneliness and isolation.

  • Suicidal thoughts.

Spiritual Symptoms

  • A crisis in values, purpose and meaning.

  • Joyless striving.

  • Misalignment of core spiritual beliefs.

  • Being infected by energetic hooks, hexes.

2. You Can Get Used to Negative Responses

It is said that a being can get used to everything. For example, when you start to smoke, your first reaction will be repulsive.

However, after some time, smoking will be natural. The sad thing is that you can get used to everything, even violence, malnutrition or evil. And it also concerns stress, the holistic one.

So, your back sores, and your neck is tense, causing your spine degeneration. You feel pain but again, start using medication and get used to it. Your body suffers and deteriorates. But the problem lies somewhere else.

Apart from physical stress, you can also get used to holding grudges, anger, and frustration. And what is even worse - negative thinking which causes forming of thought forms and destructive beliefs is considered the absolute truth.

3. How Do You Learn Stress

You learn to react to and handle stress in childhood, modelling your parents and repeating the same emotional patterns during being punished, feeling helpless or wanting your parents' acceptance and love.

Moreover, parents often neglect their children's problems, not helping them enough to cope with these challenges. How many times have you been punished, left alone or suppressed while crying

What about the messages 'It's not so bad, you should not be afraid/angry/frustrated. Boys are punished for sadness, girls for anger.

Hence in childhood, your body became torn apart because some emotions are suppressed more easily than others. Then your organs cry or are angry - the liver, large intestine, or stomach (see the symptoms above).

Neglecting emotional pain and reacting to a physical one is another mechanism used in families. Hence you will want to become ill just to get attention and care. Then, after growing up, the same pattern is repeated in your relationships.

What Causes Stress

Your body is the storage of various traumatic experiences, like physical and sexual abuse, emotional blackmail, destructive criticism, injuries, and serious illnesses.

Hence at first, it may be difficult to focus on your body because all these memories start to come out. It is advisable to seek professional help (e.g., a counsellor, a life coach or a psychologist) then.

We all know what back pain is but few of us feel the tension in it or know if our back is stiff or relaxed. Hence it is worth your trouble to be aware of the processes in your body: your breathing, the way of leaning or standing straight, pulsation, tension, overload, numbness, or relaxation. Use this knowledge to balance your body again.

4. How To Solve the Problem

In order to be liberated from psychosomatic challenges, look deeper at yourself and reach your basic emotions: sadness, anger, rage, grief, and fear that have been expressed by your body.

Name these emotions and link them with the experiences connected with these emotions. It means to become whole; the person who is aware of his/her actual state: their thoughts, feelings and body healthy.

When you look at your challenges in a holistic way, emotions and needs linked to them are accepted and expressed.

So, you cry when being sad, and laugh while being happy. It cannot be done without being engulfed in daily life and experiencing the now. Becoming more aware of yourself eliminates persistent rumination and it is the way to finding more creative ways of investment of your psychic resources.

5. Express Your Unexpressed

Our body has its own way of communicating stress - through subtle symptoms and feelings. I have listed them above so study the list carefully. Some of these symptoms are common, e.g., headaches, migraines, dizziness, nausea, numbness, and breathlessness.

When you notice any of these symptoms read the message: "if something is wrong with my body I need to go to the doctor".

Unfortunately, it does not work. You knock on many doctors' doors, do tests and take tablets - but nothing works.

Even psychotherapy may not be helpful because psychologists and counsellors help for the short term and their tools will not help if you do not use them; they usually need long-term work, and self-discipline, which is hard to have during, e.g., a deep depression.

Also, healing your mind and body is not enough if your stress is the result of negative energies. A doctor or psychologist will not remove energetic hooks or deal with the dark side.

They will not cleanse your aura or restore your connection with the Source. This simply means that one more aspect must be included: your spiritual life.

How To Express Bottled Emotions

I will give you some ways to express your emotions.

1. Start a journal or just write down, spontaneously - what you are feeling and let it go

2. Find someone who will listen to your story - share with them, and let your emotions go

3. Use your voice, hands, and legs to release negativity

4. EFT technique - tapping of some spots on your body.

5. Meditate. Give all the negativity to God, the Source and cleanse your aura with the Divine White Light.

In A Nutshell

Today you have learnt what holistic stress is and how to deal with it. Our physical symptoms are the result of bottling up negative emotions. Therefore, it is important to channel these emotions by using automatic writing, EFT or talking to someone. Good luck with being stress-free and enjoying happiness and joy.
